Culture, art and interpretation centres

In the baroque palace of the Sinčić family you will find the Poreč Heritage Museum, which researches and preserves the cultural assets of this area. At the crossroads of the main streets of the old town of Poreč, Cardo and Decumanus Maximus, you can admire the gothic architecture of a 13th century palace, while behind its doors you will discover a gallery space with current exhibitions of contemporary art.

A similar experience is offered by the Istrian Assembly Hall, originally a church and today a multifunctional space for ceremonial events and art exhibitions, including the Poreč Annals, the longest running art exhibition in Croatia. On the ground floor of the Poreč Open University you will find the Small Gallery, where current exhibitions of domestic and international artists are held. A special place is also held by the interpretation centre La mula de Parenzo, which through multimedia and the narrative of a famous local legend brings to life the spirit of the town and its rich oral tradition.

If your journey takes you inland, in Vižinada you can visit the Potočnjak Gallery, and lovers of fishing history and tradition can visit the Santa Marina Fishermen’s House in Tar, a small museum that evokes the long fishing heritage of this area.
