It seems as if on this micro-area the entire history has been sublimated: Clearly visible traces of dinosaur foot steps, 60 million years old, discovery of mammoth bones and tusks, building remnants of pre-historic people.

At the bottom of Tar and Vabriga, in Červar and Larun even today archeological excavations are in course. To day- light life came rustical Roman villas, oil refineries, country villas of Patricians and royal families, “factories” that produced amphoras, flooded ports and piers.

During Summer months classical music concerts are being held in the parish church of St. Martin in Tar, rich with exceptionally beautiful pillars and sculptures of saints. This church has been enlarged and renovated at the beginning of the 19th century in memory of the Pope’s visit to the nearby Tar valley. This event has been record- ed in Latin on the stone gable above the church entrance: HIS SANTITY THE POPE PIO VII VISITED THE PORT OF THE TAR VALLEY ON AUGUST 13th AND 14th 1800.

In the church of St. Anton in Vabriga there are two paintings of Zorzi Venture dating from the year 1602. Frata is known for its Romanesque style church tower dating from the 13th century.
