157 Trail of Istrian Prosciutto
This interesting tour starts through the hilly landscape of southern Poreština towards the Istrian interior.
The rolling hills in this part of the Poreč hinterland have been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by ancient hillforts found on some of them. This section of the route features several short climbs through hilltop villages, offering beautiful panoramic views.
Along quiet, winding roads, we reach Sveti Lovreč—a true “museum town” where you can enjoy an excellent coffee by the town walls dating back to the 9th century. The route then continues through the village of Kringa, known as the home of the only Istrian vampire, Jure Grando, who is also considered the first vampire described in European literature. We then arrive in Tinjan, the centre of Istrian prosciutto, where some of the finest producers of this protected delicacy can be found in the surrounding area.
The tour continues via Muntrilj and Rapavel to the village of Radovani, from where a gentle descent leads back towards Poreč.
Places along the route:
Dračevac, Montižana, Sveti Lovreč, Kringa, Tinjan, Muntrilj, Rapavel, Bačva, Kosinožići
